Centrum múzických umění Johna F. Kennedyho ve Washingtonu, D.C., získalo nové prostory díky rozšíření s názvem Reach. Jako kontrapunkt k původní budově – velké „krabici“ posazené nad Potomacem – vytvořil Steven Holl a jeho tým tři zdánlivě oddělené abstraktní formy, které jsou však vzájemně propojené pod zemí. Celá stavba je odlita z betonu. Při návrhu byla velká pozornost věnována osvětlení vnitřních prostor.
Reach
The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., has acquired new premises thanks to the expansion called Reach. As a counterpoint to the original building – a large “box” perched over the Potomac – Steven Holl and his team created three seemingly separate abstract forms that are interconnected underground. The whole building is cast in concrete. During the design, great attention was paid to the lighting of the interior.
